WoW Affliction Warlock

Warlocks spending most of their talent points in the Affliction tree do most of their damage with spells that deal their damage over a certain amount of time, damage over time or DoT spells. While those spells have little effect in short fights they are very effective in longer fights. Their main advantage is that they keep dealing damage even if the caster is occupied with other things, like running from a boss ability or unable to cast spells. Additionally the Warlock is able to set his DoTs onto more than one target, increasing his damage whenever there is more than one target to kill. Three of the main Affliction spells are only learnable via talents. Drain Life is the 21 point talent spell, dealing damage to an enemy over time and healing the Warlock in the process. At 41 points the Warlock gains Instable Affliction. A very strong spell on its own this spell has a special effect in PvP, as it causes damage if it is dispelled and it silences the dispelling character. The ultimate talent in the tree, which you gain after spending 51 talent points, is Haunt. This spell does not only deal damage to its target but also increases the effect of all other DoT spells on the target by 20%. Additionally this spell will heal the Warlock once its duration has run out, countering the lost life via Life Tap.
