With Wrath of the Lich King the Warlock received several new spells, giving him several new options. Rather unpopular is the new spell at level 75, Shadowflame. Similar to a Mage's Cone of Cold this spell hits targets in a cone in front of the caster. Similar to Frostfire Bolt this spell deals shadow and fire damage. So much for similarities though. Shadowflame does not slow down the enemy and it does not use the same mechanic as Frostfire Bolt. A target immune to one of the damage types will only take half the damage.

Much more interesting is the new level 80 spell: the Warlock is able to summon a Demonic Circle. Once the circle is set he is able to teleport back to this circle, as long as he is not more than 40 yards away. This allows a Warlock to escape from many dangerous situations, like arcane vortex from Malygos. In PvP Demonic Circle is a necessary tool to get some distance from melee enemies. While they are technically not new spells, the Fire- and Spellstone have been completely revamped. Useless as they were before they can now be applied, similar to the discontinued weapon oils, to weapons. They increase spelldamage and critical strike rating or haste rating.
